January Low Temp Ranks

The first month of the year is in the books, so it is a good time to check in on how it ranked. The featured chart presents IEM estimated climate district ranks for average daily low temperature. A value of 1 would be the warmest on record since 1893. The Midwestern US is shown on the warm side of average with the most extreme ranks found in Michigan. After the first two days of February being quite warm, temperatures have returned to more average winter-like values and look to persist this week.
