May 90s

Posted: 13 May 2022 09:40 AM

Yesterday was another very warm day in Iowa for early May or even about any day of summer with highs into the 90s again. The 2 PM observation from Des Moines was 90 degrees yesterday. The featured chart presents the frequency of having such a warm temperature at 2 PM by month. The May frequency is just 2%, which equates to having just about two days for three years worth of Mays. Thankfully temperatures are expected to be lower today over much of the state, but southeastern Iowa will still be close to pushing 90 degrees again.
