Sunshine was warmly present over much of the state on Monday as spring break week started to feel just like that. So far this month, we have seen more than our fair share of days without overcast sky conditions. The featured chart presents some metrics for reported overcast sky conditions during the noon hour for Des Moines by month and for each March on record (bottom panel). The frequency this year for this March is well below average so far. The forecast for this week looks to continue this trend with perhaps only Thursday experiencing overcast conditions during the noon hour.
