Near Bottom of Range

Posted: 19 Aug 2021 05:24 AM

The lack of rainfall leading to the ongoing drought continues to be the major story this growing season. The featured chart presents accumulated precipitation since 1 April for Sioux City with the shaded blue area representing the observed historical range for the site. The 2021 line is presently very close to the bottom of the range for this period. A number of chances of rainfall are in the near term forecast, but it remains to be seen if the driest areas of the state will again miss out.
