While storms yesterday brought needed rainfall to some parts of eastern Iowa, some places like Cedar Rapids missed out again with the airport only reporting a trace. The featured chart presents monthly precipitation departures from average for the site over the past two years along with the El Nino 3.4 index. After a slightly above average January, each subsequent month has been below average and August is on pace to be below average as well. Storms will be in the area again today, but it appears they will miss Cedar Rapids just to the east!
