Moderate Risk over Wisconsin

Posted: 28 Jul 2021 05:42 AM

The Storm Prediction Center has a moderate risk (level 4 out of 5) of severe weather today over much of Wisconsin with the primary threat being damaging winds along with tornadoes and large hail. There is concern about this threat with many thousand people outside at the Oshkosh Air Show today. It will likely be too hot aloft over much of Iowa to allow storms to developer here even with extreme levels of heat and humidity present. Yesterday, a few storms were able to clip far northeastern Iowa and this may repeat again over night today. The IEM website can generate these SPC outlook maps on-demand and an archive exists back to the mid 1980s! Just follow the "Generate Chart" link and find all those old severe weather days you still recall to this date!
