10 PM Temps during July

Posted: 05 Jul 2021 05:45 AM

July 4th was a warm one, but decent humidity levels and a nice breeze made it rather enjoyable to be outside. The featured chart presents the yearly average 10 PM temperature during July for Des Moines. A simple linear fit and average is plotted as well. The observation yesterday of 78 degrees was only a few degrees above the long term simple average of 76. The chart shows a few years that really stick out for high average temperatures (1936 and then 2011, 2012). During this time of year, the humidity is what differentiates pleasant and oppressive conditions. The forecast this week look to continue our warm daytime temperatures, but continued lower humidity levels allowing night time temperatures to cool off.
