A front brought severe weather and some needed rainfall to the state on Sunday along with cooler temperatures on Monday providing a nice break from our recent stretch of warm weather. The featured chart presents the accumulated hours for Des Moines with the air temperature above a given threshold for this year and on average since 1973. This year is running well above average, but thankfully values at the extreme high end of the range have not been too out of control. With summer starting today, we still have plenty of time left to accumulate such warm hours with the immediate return of such weather anticipated on Wednesday.
