Paltry Precipitation Total

The precipitation deficits are continuing to deepen as mostly dry weather during what should be the wettest time of year has not helped. The featured chart presents year to date precipitation for Des Moines with this year's total coming in at about the 90th percentile for dryness and the least amount since the late 1980s. The forecast continues to not took promising for meaningful statewide precipitation, but there will be hit and mostly miss chances over the state. These are the type of rainfall events that often explain why some crop fields look great later in the growing season and others not so much.
