Widespread and significant rainfall continues to be difficult to come by this month. Perhaps that will change over the next week to end May with the featured map presenting NWS Weather Prediction Center precipitation forecast until Memorial Day evening. The present US Drought Monitor analysis is overlain. Significant rainfall appears possible on Thursday and again on Sunday and Monday with perhaps only northeastern Iowa missing out on the heaviest of totals. That is the one fly in this ointment as this area has seen deteriorating drought conditions and could use the rain more so than southeastern Iowa.
