Twice a day, hundreds of locations around the globe take vertical profile soundings of the atmosphere via instrumentation carried aloft by weather balloons. These soundings provide valuable snapshots of the state of the atmosphere. The featured chart presents January wind speed percentiles for the Sunday evening sounding from Omaha, NE.
