Fast Snow Start Mean Anything?

Posted: 13 Nov 2020 05:35 AM

Iowa has seen a fast start to the cold season snowfall accumulation with numerous snow producing systems already impacting the state. Does such a fast start to the season mean that lots more snow is in store? The featured chart presents the seasonal combination of before and after 12 November snowfall. Years that have seen larger early totals don't seem to portend a higher than average total for the rest of the season. The immediate next seven day forecast would appear to keep any significant snowfall away from the state, so we will have to watch and see how this winter develops.
