Warm Weather Dominating

Posted: 15 Oct 2020 05:39 AM

The featured chart presents the daily percentage of NWS climate reporting sites over the CONUS that are either above or below average for daily high temperature. There is no spatial weighting done for this plot, so there is an eastern US bias to it. Placing that bias aside, the plot shows that warmer than average conditions have dominated the CONUS for the past week to ten days. October 6th and 7th really stick out with over 90% of the stations above average. Iowa's recent stretch of warm weather will end today with highs crashing back to below average values with only a brief warmup for the weekend in the forecast over the next seven days.
