The featured chart presents year to date accumulated precipitation departures for selected sites in and near to Iowa. The chart shows the dry conditions getting started late April with further deterioration starting in early July. The wet week of early September did not bust the drought for all the sites shown with Omaha showing the largest negative departures to date. This year's growing season is over, so one starts to be concerned that these negative departures will carry over into 2021 (if we even survive to make it till the next year). Recent year's droughts have been erased by very wet fall/winter seasons, so we shall see if the same happens before the next growing season.
