The skies cleared out and temperatures plummeted overnight reaching the coldest levels so far this fall season. The featured map presents morning low temperatures for today with only about the southeastern quarter of the state missing out on sub freezing temperatures. Some locations over northwestern Iowa were able to reach levels well into the 20s, which probably means a killing frost occurred in those locations. A few more chilly nights are in store for this weekend with warmer conditions expected next week.
