The coldest low temperature so far this month for Ames happened back on the 4th with a low of 44. Having the coldest low temperature early in September is very rare and so it seems likely that we'll see a colder than 44 degree low by the end of the month. Climatology says as much as well with the average daily low around 44 degrees by the end of the month too. The present seven day forecast keeps lows above that level, so we shall see if this early September coldest low holds.
