Crossing Frequencies

Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:34 AM

Yesterday was yet another warm day this summer with high temperatures reaching about 90 degrees. It did not feel too bad outside as humidity levels were very low for early September. Such days are somewhat rare as illustrated by the featured chart presenting daily frequencies of having high temperatures in the 80s, maximum dew point below 60 and the combination of the two happening on the same day. The approximate 10% co-frequency during September implies having about three such days per year for the month. It is interesting to see the frequencies steeply go in opposite directions during the month as summer heat and humidity subsides. The spring time comparable to early September is about the first of June.
