Three Days of 90+

Posted: 23 Jul 2020 04:59 AM

The forecast has the high temperature on Friday through Sunday above 90 degrees for Ames. The featured chart presents the daily frequency of having such a streak of hot days in a row. For those that do not like really hot weather, thankfully the frequencies shown are rather low with summer month values in the 5 to 15 percent range. That frequency works out to once or twice per month. This summer has seen more than its fair share of hot days, but there have been three years (1992, 1993, 2004) on record whereby the warmest high was only 89 degrees, so such hot temperatures are not a given.
