Hot Sunday Morning

Posted: 20 Jul 2020 05:04 AM

A cool front hadn't quite made its way through Iowa Sunday morning and very warm air was pooled out in front of it over southeastern Iowa. Air and dew points temperatures were very warm with 5 AM readings at or near hourly records. The featured chart presents the IEM computed hourly temperature records for Dubuque. The 5 AM reading there of 80 degrees was the warmest on record for the site. Thankfully the front swept the state clean by later in the morning and made for a rather pleasant summer day over Iowa after a brutally hot Saturday. The forecast this week has a few days of cooler temperatures before higher levels of heat and humidity return for the end of the week.
