Zero So Far

The featured chart presents the number of NWS issued Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Warnings for the year to date period ending 12 March for Iowa. This year's total is zero so far and the chart shows that having no warnings to date is the common case. Severe weather season does not get started in earnest until April for Iowa and the near term forecast has a reminder that it is still the winter season with accumulating snowfall expected over western Iowa tonight.
