The dry weather continues to roll along and parts of the state are at a week or more without precipitation. The featured chart looks into the longest stretches without precipitation and also below a 0.1 inch daily threshold for Des Moines. The bottom panel simply includes the daily maximum reported value. Being the cold season, having dry stretches is certainly that is not rare. The longest stretches for December are in the 20 to 40 accumulated days range, so our current one would need to persist into January to get close to a record.
