Low temperatures on Tuesday were very cold for only the second week of November. Daily record low temperatures were set in a number of locations with places like Cedar Rapids destroying their previous record low by 11 degrees. The featured map displays the morning low temperature reports along with the most recent year with as cold a temperature prior to 13 November. Most of the map shows the year of 1991 as the most recent comparable to yesterday. Some locations like Des Moines have only had a handful or less of days with even a sub zero low temperature prior to this date. This was a very anomalous event.
