Overnight Enhanced Risk

Posted: 20 Aug 2019 05:35 AM

The Storm Prediction Center had an overnight "Enhanced" risk of severe weather analyzed over southeastern Iowa. While this risk category was only created back in 2015, the climatology shown by the featured map indicates it only happens once or twice per year for our area. The threat was due to a very unstable air mass and a strong "low level jet" helping to build a thunderstorm complex. This complex is maturing this morning and will continue to truck it off to the south and east into Illinois.
