Comparing Corners of the State

To date, the wettest portion of the state this year has been southeastern Iowa and the driest has been west central Iowa. Climatologically, this lines up well with the average orientation of wettest to driest for the state. The featured chart compares two locations within these respective areas showing the difference between yearly precipitation totals. The departure to date for 2019 is about double average. Only about 13% of years on record have seen Sioux City have a higher yearly precipitation total than Keokuk.
