Jump into Summer

Posted: 17 May 2019 05:35 AM

After a Mother's Day on Sunday that required hugging your mother not only out of love but just to stay warm, Thursday was a remarkable jump into summer with record highs and a return of humidity. The featured map depicts the difference between the warmest temperature on Thursday and the year to date warmest temperature. A good chunk of the western corn belt region is shown in the 5-10 degree range. All the heat and humidity helped to fire late afternoon thunderstorms on Thursday that brought large hail and heavy rainfall. Unfortunately, more storms are in the forecast for today and this weekend.
