As has been the case recently, showers and thunderstorms visited the state again on Monday but mostly missed the driest areas of the state over southern Iowa. The featured chart presents the percentage of the state with a given rainfall departure over the past 31 days based on MRMS estimates along with the areal coverage of at least one tenth of an inch on Monday. There is some hope that southern Iowa will pick up some rainfall today, but forecasts like these have tended to disappoint the area.
