Largest Yearly Totals
Posted: 31 Aug 2017 05:40 AM
To finish off the series looking at Iowa precipitation climatology, the featured map presents
the largest calendar year precipitation totals for long term climate sites tracked by the IEM in
the state. As with the previous maps, there are storm totals from Harvey in Texas that are
larger than even the largest yearly total in Iowa. This map does show a rather large
northwest to southeast gradient in the state. Tomorrow's daily feature will look into why just
a large gradient exists.
