June Precip Totals

Posted: 17 Jun 2016 04:32 AM

Heavy rainfall events have been more common in June for Iowa, but not all parts of the state have participated. The featured map displays month to date totals as estimated by NOAA's MRMS project. Much of northeastern Iowa is analyzed in the five to ten inch range with totals below two inches for most of the state. Southeastern Iowa is the portion of the state that really needs rain and is currently highlighted in the US Drought Monitor for dryness. The near term forecast is not optimistic for more heavy rainfall in the state for the next seven days.
