March Precipitation Ranks

Posted: 01 Apr 2016 05:39 AM

March is in the books and the preliminary precipitation totals for the month indicate some remarkable contrasts over the Midwest. A value of 1 would indicate the wettest March on record for the climate district since 1893. The very wet areas in and near Wisconsin are contrasted with the drier areas just southwest of there. Iowa got a little bit of both. The US Drought Monitor has been slowly creeping analyzed dry areas closer to Iowa as we have gotten further removed from the epic wetness of last December.
