Posted: 30 Nov 2015 05:36 AM

The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning in effect for much of northwestern Iowa. Snowfall is expected to pile up in the area with totals topping six inches and higher. How common are these warnings issued? The featured map displays the yearly frequency of Winter Storm Warnings by Iowa county. The highest total in this chart is Clayton County averaging 4 warnings per year! It is interesting to see the SW to NE pattern over state.
