Warm Side

Posted: 18 Nov 2015 05:36 AM

The featured chart displays the progression of trailing 2 week temperature and precipitation departures evaluated every seven days for Des Moines since mid August. The departures are expressed in units of standard deviation from long term mean. These types of plots often have a cyclical property to them as our weather patterns bring prolonged periods of warm/cool and wet/dry conditions. The temperature departures have been on the warm side of average for much of these past three months. You can now generate this chart on the website for other stations and time thresholds of your choice.
