The featured chart presents the maximum number of consecutive hours per year that the Des Moines observation site reported snow. The longest streak of 61 hours was reported last year on 1-2 February 2011. There are number of caveats with this metric due to observation and reporting differences that have changed over the years. No snow is in the forecast, but bitter cold to start the new year.
