Snowfall common for today?

Snow showers are being reported this morning over parts of Northern Iowa, but how common is snowfall for this time of year? The featured chart is the frequency of daily snowfall anywhere in Iowa for the winter season based on observations since 1951. For this time of year, snowfall frequencies are roughly one in every 5 years. Once we get into December, snowfall events are more common than not.
