The Storm Prediction Center has issued a high risk of severe weather for Thursday. The atmosphere over Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa will be primed for a severe weather outbreak with large amounts of instability juxtaposed over strong wind sheer (which helps the thunderstorms to rotate). The particularly dangerous aspect of this setup is that the tornado threat is expected to continue after sunset along with a good chance of a widespread damaging wind event. Just what we did not want to see.
