Influence of snowpack

Posted: 12 Mar 2008 07:38 AM

The featured map is a high temperature analysis for Tuesday showing much of the state in the 50s while Northeast Iowa was stuck in the 40s and upper 30s. Of course, the snowpack is to blame with deep and heavy snowpack still existing in that part of the state. It will take a number of days like Tuesday to melt the 2-3 inches of frozen water on the ground. The longer this process takes the better, since the water can have time to run off.
