Max dew points on 7 Oct 2007
It certainly feels like summer again with humidity galore back in the state. One would think the corn was growing again, but it certainly is not. This humidity is a result of transport of moisture into the state from our friends to the south. Dew points soared on Sunday into the 70s, which is nearly unprecidented in recorded Octobers since 1971 (except 3 days in 2005). Unofficially, the 73 reported at the Des Moines Airport is a modern day record high dew point for October! All of this moisture is translating into heavy rainfall with some locations expected to receive over 2 inches.
