Early frost

Posted: 14 Sep 2007 07:18 AM

The NWS is forecasting freezing temperatures on Saturday morning with lows reaching the upper 20s in Northern Iowa. The featured image is of the chance a sub 33 degree temperature was observed before the 14th of September based on observations since 1951. Having this cold of air is rather rare for the middle of September with the climatologically cooler spots in the state only experiencing an early frost once every 15-20 years (~5%).
