April snow common?

Daily frequency of at least 1 snowfall report in Iowa since 1951
Is seeing a snowfall on 11 April common? The featured chart for today attempts to address this question by plotting daily frequencies of snowfall occurances for years since 1951. You can see that the snowiest time of year is roughly the last week of January. The value for April 11th is around 15% which means roughly 1 out of every 7 years there is snowfall somewhere in the state. Overall for April, 53 of the previous 57 years have had snowfall in April so yesterday is not that irregular.
