Sun tries to help

The featured graph is observed peak daily solar radiation from the "nstl10" site. Even with clear skies like those on Sunday, peak rates only approach 30-40% of those during max heating during the summertime. Combined with shorter days during the winter season, the most effective way to warm us up is by transporting warmer air from the south or west to Iowa.
