AWOS morning lows on 12 Oct 2006
The coldest air of the fall season settled into the state this morning dropping temperatures well below freezing for most of the state. The SE quarter of the state appears to have stayed warmer than 28 degrees, which is often considered the temperature for a killing frost. The hard freeze is a welcome event for farmers who need the cold to kill the corn plants allowing the crop to dry down in the field.
