Via the magic of digital photography, the featured image today proves that the Earth is round! The image is a composite of four webcamera shots synced in time from last evening (click the image for more details). You can see that it is much darker at Lake Rathbun (upper left panel) than it is further west and north at Rockwell City (lower right panel). If the earth was flat, you would expect to see a sunset at the same time. Now, to prove that the Earth is a sphere and not a cylinder, here is a mpeg movie lapse of the sun setting. The movie clearly shows the slanted path of the sun relative to the horizon. What a discovery!
