Shown is a plot of average daily temperatures for Ames. You can see that climatologically, the coldest time of year is roughly the last week of January. Temperatures quickly rise through February and March as the incident solar angle increases and the daytime length increases. So if you are sick of winter, there is always the optimism of our climate!
